I never took any "actuall" English lesson. Only that junk public school English lessons. I'm the only interest in speaking English in my pseudo-town, so the classes moved on waaaay slow. Well, I don't cared anyway, when those lessons began, I already knew almost everything they tried to teach me. I learnt it by myself when I was 10 (without Internet), but I had some idea of how the stuff works when I was 6.

I don't consider it a recreation. It's funny, but when you're really into something, it's not so "recreative" as it used to be.

Já tentei ler a Bíblia em ingles, medium difficulty.
Brasileiro e japonês falando inglês é um desastre, com raras exceções.

Não é não, eu aprendi sozinho também, mas tenho muito mais tempo que você, provavelmente, e vejo MUITO vídeo em inglês e só leio em inglês também. =)

Eu nem leio muito em inglês, e isso é um problema. O que eu leio em ingles é mais letras de música, e videos em ingles, acho que eu só vi um sem legenda até hoje. O problema do auto-didatismo na verdade seria o desanimo e o conhecimento estagnado (que nem todos tem). Eu fiquei muito tempo sem buscam aprender coisas novas por que não me era cobrado, aí, na preguiça, já viu.

Comecei com a mesma idade que você e sou bem mais velho.
Mas eu comecei a ver coisas novas em inglês porque as coisas mais engraçadas estavam em inglês. Comédia é a maior motivação que algo pode me dar.
